ABOUT MARIE VERONIQUE
Marie-Veronique Nadeau is a chemist who founded Marie Veronique in 2002. An inventor at heart who suffered from teenage acne, she was moved to create her own products when she could find nothing on the market that was clean and effective to address her rosacea. From there, she went on to develop a line for acne and was one of the first to formulate a non-nano zinc oxide sunscreen. She continues to lead the way towards safe yet effective skincare, determined to move an industry ensconced in hype into the realm of science. She is a trained esthetician, holds degrees in Math and Science, and is a former high school chemistry teacher. She collaborates with her daughter, Jay Nadeau, physicist and bio-medical engineer, to carefully choose each ingredient in her products to solve real skin issues and address the causes of aging at the source.
Our vision at Marie Veronique is to deliver superior, non-toxic skincare drawing on nature’s genius and the brain of science through innovative formulations. Achieving optimal skin health and healing real skin issues drive us to produce safe products that truly work.

As a skin care company that prioritizes safety and efficacy, we always stay up-to date on toxic ingredient lists. Over the last few years, we’ve been paying a lot of attention to preservatives, in particular. There are good reasons to avoid parabens, but the substitutes for parabens used by many companies claiming to be organic, natural and toxin free title are also problematic. Specifically, preservatives like phenoxyethanol and/or sodium benzoate may be contaminated with carcinogenic compounds or react in the presence of other molecules to produce carcinogens.
This comprehensive list was developed to help you navigate your product labels for the safest skin care yet.

Just as no two people are alike, every skin inhabited by an individual is unique to that person. Skins may share common conditions like acne and aging, but under that umbrella, every person presents a different set of symptoms. (Similarly, the microbe Propionibacterium acnes is a species that differs at the strain level—some strains causing acne while others don’t.)
For this reason, we have found that the most effective treatments come from serums formulated to address skin problems at the symptom level rather than the condition level. For example, our Treatment Serum regulates sebum production to ameliorate acne conditions, while our Lightening Serum inhibits tyrosinase to fade hyperpigmentation. At the serum level, we can target specific dysfunctions by supplying ingredients that help the skin self-regulate.

All acne, whether adult acne or teenage acne (acne vulgaris), begins when excess sebum clogs pores. This means acne starts deep down in the follicle, below the reach of anti-acne cleansers, masks and lotions.
Since a pound of prevention is worth an ounce of cure, using oils rich in omega-3 and -6 essential fatty acids is a very effective way to treat acne. Rather than stripping the skin of surface oils, omega-3 and -6 facilitate deep penetration to dissolve congestion and prevent the formation of comedos (blackheads). You can also head off comedo formation by supplementing with pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), by using salicylic acid washes and masks to unclog pores (as long as you aren’t allergic) and by using a topical retinol/retinoid product.
